A quick and easy blackberry mojito pitcher with fresh mint, lime, rum, and soda water, perfect for summer gatherings and last-minute parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh blackberries, washed
  • 1 cup fresh mint leaves, loosely packed
  • 1/2 cup (about 45 limes) fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 cup white granulated sugar (or substitute with honey or agave syrup)
  • 1 1/2 cups white rum
  • 3 cups club soda or sparkling water
  • Ice cubes, enough to fill the pitcher

Instructions

  1. Rinse the blackberries gently and pat dry. Pick the mint leaves off the stems, reserving a few sprigs for garnish. Juice the limes until you have about 1/2 cup (120 ml) of fresh lime juice.
  2. Add the blackberries and mint leaves to your pitcher. Using a muddler, press gently to release the blackberry juice and mint oils without shredding the mint or pulverizing the blackberries.
  3. Pour in the 1/2 cup (100 grams) of granulated sugar and the fresh lime juice. Stir well until the sugar starts dissolving.
  4. Measure and add 1 1/2 cups (360 ml) of white rum to the pitcher. Stir to combine all flavors.
  5. Fill the pitcher with ice cubes to about three-quarters full. Slowly pour in 3 cups (720 ml) of club soda or sparkling water. Gently stir once more to mix without losing the fizz.
  6. Taste and adjust sweetness or lime juice if needed. Garnish with mint sprigs and a few whole blackberries.
  7. Serve immediately in glasses with additional ice and optional lime wedges.

Notes

Prepare the base (blackberries, mint, lime juice, sugar, rum) up to 2 hours ahead and refrigerate. Add soda and ice just before serving for best fizz and freshness. Use fresh lime juice for best flavor. Avoid over-muddling to prevent bitterness. Frozen blackberries can be used if thawed first. For a non-alcoholic version, omit rum and add extra soda or non-alcoholic rum alternative.
