A creamy, spicy buffalo chicken dip made in a slow cooker, perfect for parties and game days. This recipe balances heat and creaminess with a silky texture and is a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken breasts (about 300 g)
  • 8 oz (227 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup (240 ml) buffalo wing sauce (Frank’s RedHot recommended)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) ranch dressing
  • 1 cup (100 g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup (50 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional garnish: chopped green onions or fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Shred about 2 cups (300 g) of cooked chicken finely using two forks or hands (about 10 minutes).
  2. Soften 8 oz (227 g) cream cheese at room temperature for 15-20 minutes or microwave for 20 seconds.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, 1 cup (240 ml) buffalo wing sauce, 1/2 cup (120 ml) ranch dressing, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth and creamy (about 2 minutes).
  4. Fold shredded chicken into the sauce mixture until evenly coated.
  5. Spray slow cooker insert lightly with non-stick cooking spray or butter to prevent sticking. Pour in the mixture and spread evenly.
  6. Sprinkle 1 cup (100 g) shredded cheddar and 1/2 cup (50 g) shredded mozzarella over the top.
  7. Set slow cooker to LOW and cook for 2 hours, stirring once halfway through to blend flavors and check consistency. Add 15 minutes more if hotter dip is desired, watching carefully to avoid drying out.
  8. Before serving, stir well to mix melted cheeses and sauce. Garnish with chopped green onions or parsley.

Notes

Use room temperature cream cheese for smooth mixing. Stir halfway through cooking to prevent cheese from sticking or burning. If dip is too thick after cooking, stir in a splash of milk or extra ranch dressing to loosen. For dairy-free, use vegan cream cheese and dairy-free ranch. Can be made in Instant Pot on Keep Warm setting with stirring every 15 minutes for 45 minutes total.
