This Creamy Honey BBQ Chicken Wing Dip is the perfect party appetizer, combining tangy cream cheese, sweet honey, and smoky barbecue sauce with shredded chicken for a crowd-pleasing dip that disappears fast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions for garnish (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). If using a slow cooker, set it to low heat.
  2. Soften the cream cheese by letting it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes, or microwave on low power for 15-20 seconds.
  3. Beat the cream cheese in a medium mixing bowl until smooth and fluffy, about 2 minutes with a hand mixer.
  4. Add the shredded chicken, barbecue sauce, honey, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Stir until the chicken is fully coated and the mixture is uniform. Adjust salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Fold in the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, reserving about 1/4 cup of cheddar for the top. Stir gently until distributed.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×9-inch baking dish. Spread evenly. If using butter, dot small pieces on top.
  7. Sprinkle the reserved cheddar cheese on top.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until hot, bubbly, and slightly golden on top. For slow cooker, cook on low for 2-3 hours.
  9. Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

For best results, use full-fat cream cheese and shred chicken while warm. Adjust honey based on sweetness of barbecue sauce. Dip can be assembled ahead and refrigerated overnight; add 5-10 minutes to baking time if starting cold. Leftovers keep in the refrigerator for up to 4 days and freeze well for up to 3 months.
