A rich and easy-to-make dark chocolate bark with a dramatic salted caramel spiderweb drizzle, perfect for spontaneous dessert cravings or entertaining.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces (340 grams) good-quality dark chocolate (recommend Lindt 70%)
  • ½ cup (120 ml) salted caramel sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt flakes
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (optional, for silkier caramel drizzle)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Chop the dark chocolate into uniform pieces for even melting.
  2. Set up a double boiler by placing a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water, ensuring the bowl does not touch the water.
  3. Stir chocolate gently until fully melted and smooth, about 5-7 minutes. Alternatively, microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring each time.
  4. In a small saucepan, warm the salted caramel sauce over low heat.
  5. Stir in the tablespoon of unsalted butter and vanilla extract until silky and combined. Keep warm on very low heat or transfer to a small piping bag or zip-top bag for drizzling.
  6. Pour the melted chocolate onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and spread evenly about ¼-inch (6 mm) thick.
  7. Drizzle the warmed caramel over the chocolate in concentric circles.
  8. Using a toothpick or skewer, drag lines from the center outward and then from the edges inward to form a spiderweb pattern.
  9. Lightly sprinkle sea salt flakes over the top.
  10. Transfer the baking sheet to the refrigerator and chill for at least 1 hour until the chocolate is fully set and firm.
  11. Once set, lift the bark from the parchment and break into irregular pieces. Serve immediately or store for later.

Notes

Avoid water contact with chocolate to prevent seizing. If caramel is too thick, warm slightly or thin with a teaspoon of cream. Use gentle heat and patience when melting chocolate. Chill bark fully for a perfect snap. Vegetable oil splash can smooth seized chocolate. Store in airtight container at room temperature up to 1 week or freeze up to 3 months.
