This creamy, spicy, and utterly irresistible dip comes together with just five simple ingredients and a slow cooker. Perfect for game day, potlucks, or a cozy night in, it’s a guaranteed crowd-pleaser that requires minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (about 10 oz) cooked, shredded chicken (rotisserie, leftover, or canned)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (sharp cheddar recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon ranch dressing mix (from a packet)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken: If using rotisserie chicken, remove skin and bones, then shred the meat using two forks. You should have about 2 cups of shredded chicken. If using canned chicken, drain it well.
  2. Soften the cream cheese: Cut the cream cheese into cubes and let it sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes. Alternatively, microwave for 10-15 seconds.
  3. Layer the ingredients: Place the shredded chicken in the bottom of your crockpot. Add the cubed cream cheese on top, then pour the buffalo sauce over everything. Sprinkle the ranch dressing mix evenly over the top.
  4. Cook on low: Cover the crockpot and cook on low heat for 2 hours. Do not stir yet.
  5. Stir and add cheese: After 2 hours, stir until the cream cheese is fully incorporated and the mixture is smooth. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top. Cover and cook for another 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Final stir and serve: Stir the melted cheddar into the dip until everything is combined and creamy. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Transfer to a serving bowl or keep warm in the crockpot on the ‘warm’ setting.
  7. Garnish and enjoy: Sprinkle with chopped green onions or fresh parsley. Serve immediately with your favorite dippers.

Notes

For a smoother dip, ensure cream cheese is at room temperature. If the dip thickens too much, stir in a tablespoon of milk or chicken broth. This dip can be made on the stovetop over low heat if you don’t have a crockpot.
