easy simple jello shots recipe - featured image

A quick and easy jello shots recipe using just three ingredients—jello powder, vodka, and boiling water—perfect for last-minute parties and celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) jello powder (cherry, lime, grape, or preferred flavor)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1 cup (240 ml) vodka (mid-range like Tito’s or Smirnoff recommended)

Instructions

  1. Boil 1 cup (240 ml) of water using an electric kettle or stovetop.
  2. Pour the boiling water into a medium heatproof mixing bowl.
  3. Add the entire 3 oz (85 g) package of jello powder to the boiling water.
  4. Stir briskly with a whisk or spoon for about 2 minutes until the jello powder is completely dissolved with no lumps.
  5. Slowly pour in 1 cup (240 ml) of vodka to the dissolved jello mixture and stir gently but thoroughly to combine.
  6. Carefully pour the liquid mixture into shot glasses or silicone molds using a small measuring cup with a spout to avoid spills.
  7. Place the filled molds on a flat surface in the refrigerator and chill for at least 2 hours, ideally 3-4 hours, until firm.
  8. Once set, pop the jello shots from the molds or serve directly in shot glasses.

Notes

If jello shots are too soft, reduce vodka slightly or chill longer. If too firm, add a splash more vodka or decrease chilling time. Use fresh jello powder and boiling water for best results. Avoid freezing to maintain texture. For non-alcoholic versions, replace vodka with cold sparkling water or fruit juice.
