Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large English cucumber, sliced into 1/4-inch rounds
  • 4 ounces thinly sliced smoked salmon
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh dill
  • 1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon capers, drained (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and slice the cucumber into thin 1/4-inch rounds. Set aside on a plate or tray.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese with chopped fresh dill, lemon juice, garlic powder (if using), and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until smooth and evenly blended. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  3. Spread about one teaspoon of the dill cream cheese mixture onto each cucumber slice.
  4. Tear or cut smoked salmon into bite-sized pieces and place on top of the cream cheese layer.
  5. Add a small caper on top if desired.
  6. Arrange the bites on a serving platter. Garnish with extra dill sprigs or cracked black pepper if desired.
  7. Serve immediately or chill in the fridge for up to 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Use English cucumbers for less seeds and better texture. Soften cream cheese at room temperature for easier spreading. Assemble bites shortly before serving to keep cucumbers crisp. You can use a small food processor to blend cream cheese and dill for a smoother texture. For a vegan twist, substitute dairy-free cream cheese and replace smoked salmon with marinated carrot or beet slices.
