Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1 cup shredded Mexican blend cheese
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup salsa
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
  • 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning (optional)
  • Salsa (for serving)
  • Sour cream (for serving)
  • Guacamole (for serving)
  • Shredded lettuce (for serving)
  • Diced tomatoes (for serving)
  • Sliced jalapeños (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a large baking sheet or pizza pan with parchment paper.
  2. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat for 6 to 8 minutes. Drain off the excess fat.
  3. Return the drained beef to the skillet. Add the taco seasoning packet and 2/3 cup water. Stir and simmer for 3 to 4 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
  4. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the seasoned beef with softened cream cheese, shredded cheese, salsa, and chopped cilantro. Stir until well mixed.
  5. Unroll both cans of crescent rolls and separate into 16 triangles. Arrange them on the prepared baking sheet in a circle with the wide ends overlapping in the center and points pointing outward (sunburst pattern).
  6. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the taco filling onto the wide end of each crescent triangle.
  7. Gently lift the pointed end of each triangle and fold it over the filling, tucking the tip under the wide end to seal. Repeat with all triangles.
  8. Brush the top of the ring with melted butter. Sprinkle with sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning if desired.
  9. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, until the crescent rolls are deeply golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  10. Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes. Transfer to a serving platter, place a bowl of salsa or sour cream in the center, and serve warm.

Notes

Drain the beef well to prevent soggy dough. Let the filling cool slightly before spooning onto dough. For a vegetarian version, use black beans. For a chicken version, use shredded rotisserie chicken. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in an air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes or in a 350°F oven for 8 minutes.
