A light and refreshing summer treat featuring colorful red, white, and blue fruit kabobs served with a creamy, slightly sweet cream cheese dip. Perfect for patriotic celebrations, picnics, or casual snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Strawberries, hulled and halved
  • Bananas, sliced into thick rounds
  • Blueberries, washed and dried
  • Pineapple chunks, fresh or canned in juice (drained if canned)
  • Red grapes, halved (seedless preferred)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 12 tablespoons milk or dairy-free milk
  • Optional: pinch of cinnamon or lemon zest

Instructions

  1. Prep the Fruit (10 minutes): Wash all fruit thoroughly. Hull and halve strawberries, slice bananas into thick coins about ½ inch thick, halve grapes, and cut pineapple into bite-sized chunks about 1 inch square. Pat dry with paper towel.
  2. Make the Cream Cheese Dip (5 minutes): In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, honey, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth. Add milk as needed to reach desired dipping consistency. Adjust sweetness to taste.
  3. Assemble the Fruit Kabobs (10 minutes): Thread fruit onto skewers in a repeating red, white, and blue pattern (e.g., strawberry half, banana slice, blueberry, pineapple chunk, grape half). Leave about 1 inch at the bottom for grip.
  4. Chill Before Serving (optional): Place kabobs on serving tray, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 15-30 minutes to meld flavors and keep dip cool.
  5. Serve: Arrange kabobs around a bowl of cream cheese dip. Garnish dip with cinnamon or lemon zest if desired. Encourage dipping and enjoy.

Notes

Soak wooden skewers in water for 10 minutes before grilling to prevent burning. Brush banana slices with lemon juice to prevent browning. Make dip just before serving or stir and add milk if thickened. Kabobs can be lightly grilled for 1-2 minutes per side for smoky flavor. Store leftovers in airtight containers; dip keeps up to 3 days refrigerated.
