These Fresh Red, White & Blue Caprese Skewers are a quick, festive, and fuss-free appetizer combining cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, and blueberries, drizzled with balsamic glaze. Perfect for patriotic parties and summer gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes, washed
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella balls (ciliegine)
  • 2025 fresh basil leaves, washed and dried
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries, washed and patted dry
  • 23 tablespoons balsamic glaze
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly cracked black pepper to taste
  • Wooden toothpicks or small skewers

Instructions

  1. Rinse the cherry tomatoes, blueberries, and basil leaves gently under cool water. Pat dry with a kitchen towel to prevent sogginess.
  2. In a mixing bowl, drizzle the cherry tomatoes and blueberries with 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil. Sprinkle lightly with salt and freshly cracked black pepper. Toss gently to coat without bruising the berries.
  3. On each toothpick or skewer, thread one cherry tomato, followed by a fresh basil leaf (folded if large), then a mozzarella ball, and finish with a blueberry. Repeat until ingredients are used up.
  4. Arrange the skewers on your serving platter. Drizzle balsamic glaze over the top in a thin, even stream.
  5. Add a light sprinkle of cracked black pepper for an extra pop of flavor. Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 1 hour before serving.

Notes

Dry ingredients thoroughly to avoid soggy skewers. Assemble skewers just before serving to keep basil fresh. If balsamic glaze thickens after refrigeration, warm slightly before use. For vegan option, substitute mozzarella with vegan cheese balls or marinated tofu cubes.
