Ingredients

  • Cream cheese, softened (for spreading)
  • Sharp cheddar, sliced
  • Goat cheese log (optional)
  • Thick-cut bacon strips, cooked until crispy (or turkey bacon)
  • Smoked salmon slices
  • Strawberries, hulled and halved
  • Green grapes, washed and whole
  • Cherry tomatoes (optional)
  • Avocado slices, drizzled with lemon juice
  • Mixed nuts (walnuts, almonds, pecans) lightly toasted with cinnamon and sea salt
  • Granola clusters
  • Local honey or maple syrup (for drizzling)
  • Fresh figs or dried apricots (seasonal)
  • Assorted mini bagels or sliced baguette, toasted
  • Whole grain crackers (optional)
  • Butter, softened (for spreading)
  • Fresh herbs like mint or basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lay thick-cut bacon strips on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until crispy. Drain on paper towels and let cool for about 10 minutes.
  2. While bacon cooks, slice baguette or mini bagels and toast them in a toaster or oven for 5-7 minutes until golden. Set aside to cool.
  3. Rinse strawberries, grapes, cherry tomatoes, and figs. Hull and halve strawberries. Slice avocado just before assembly and drizzle with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  4. Heat a dry skillet over medium heat. Add mixed nuts with a pinch of cinnamon and sea salt. Toast, stirring frequently, for 3-5 minutes until fragrant. Remove and cool.
  5. Slice cheddar and goat cheese into bite-sized pieces. Place cream cheese in a small bowl or leave softened for spreading.
  6. Arrange the board by placing bowls of cream cheese and honey first. Then arrange cheeses, meats, fresh fruit, nuts, granola clusters, and bread slices around the bowls, balancing shapes and colors. Tuck in smoked salmon slices and garnish with fresh herbs if using.
  7. Drizzle honey or maple syrup lightly over fruits and nuts. Add small pats of butter near the bread if desired.

Notes

[‘Do not overcrowd the board to keep it visually appealing and easy to serve.’, ‘Use room temperature cheeses for better flavor and easier slicing.’, ‘Toast nuts and bread fresh to add aroma and crunch.’, ‘Keep juicy fruits away from bread to avoid sogginess.’, ‘Prepare bacon and toast bread ahead if needed, then assemble just before serving.’, ‘For vegetarian version, omit bacon and smoked salmon and add hard-boiled eggs or roasted chickpeas.’, ‘For gluten-free, use gluten-free crackers or rice cakes instead of bread.’, ‘To keep avocado slices from browning, slice just before serving and drizzle with lemon juice.’, ‘Store leftover components separately and reheat bacon briefly to regain crispiness.’]
