A charming and easy-to-make chocolate-covered strawberry bouquet perfect for Mother’s Day or any special occasion. This DIY gift combines fresh strawberries and rich chocolate with a professional glossy finish and decorative touches.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 20 medium-sized fresh strawberries, firm and ripe with green caps intact
  • 8 oz (225 g) high-quality semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips or bars
  • 4 oz (115 g) white chocolate (optional, for drizzling or decoration)
  • 20 wooden skewers, about 8 inches (20 cm) long
  • Wax or parchment paper for lining workspace
  • Sprinkles, crushed nuts, or shredded coconut (optional, for decoration)
  • Ribbon or decorative wrap to tie the bouquet

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry strawberries thoroughly to remove all moisture (about 10 minutes).
  2. Line a baking sheet with wax or parchment paper. Insert wooden skewers into the stem end of each strawberry, leaving enough length to hold comfortably.
  3. Melt the semi-sweet or dark chocolate using a double boiler or microwave in short bursts until smooth (about 10 minutes).
  4. Hold each strawberry by the skewer and dip it into the melted chocolate, swirling to coat evenly. Let excess chocolate drip off before placing on the lined baking sheet.
  5. Optional: After the first layer sets slightly (chill for 5 minutes), dip the strawberries again for a thicker, shinier coating.
  6. Before the chocolate fully hardens, sprinkle nuts, coconut, or sprinkles over the dipped strawberries. Drizzle melted white chocolate over the berries for decoration if desired.
  7. Place the tray in the fridge for about 20 minutes or until the chocolate is firm.
  8. Arrange the skewered strawberries in a decorative container such as a small pot or vase, using crumpled tissue or shredded paper at the base to keep them upright.
  9. Wrap the bouquet with clear cellophane or decorative paper and tie with a ribbon to make it gift-ready.

[‘Use gentle heat and stir often when melting chocolate to avoid burning.’, ‘Ensure strawberries are completely dry before dipping to prevent chocolate from seizing or sliding off.’, ‘Tempering chocolate is recommended for a glossy finish and snap but is optional.’, ‘Work quickly as chocolate hardens fast, especially in cool kitchens.’, ‘If chocolate thickens during dipping, reheat gently with a tablespoon of coconut oil.’, ‘Do not dip cold strawberries straight from the fridge to avoid condensation.’, ‘Store bouquet in a cool place but avoid long refrigeration to maintain freshness.’, ‘Assemble bouquet close to gifting time for best appearance and taste.’]
