Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 24 mini smoked sausages or cocktail wieners
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Candy eyeballs (optional)
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup Dijon mustard
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Make the honey mustard dip: In a medium bowl, whisk together ½ cup mayonnaise, ¼ cup Dijon mustard, ¼ cup honey, 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar, ¼ teaspoon garlic powder, and a pinch of salt. Taste and adjust if needed. Set aside.
  3. Prepare the crescent roll dough: Unroll the dough onto a clean cutting board. If using triangle sheets, press the diagonal seams together to form a solid rectangle.
  4. Cut the dough into strips: Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the dough rectangle in half lengthwise, then cut each half crosswise into 12 thin strips (about 24 strips total).
  5. Wrap the sausages: Take one strip of dough and wrap it around one mini sausage, starting at one end and working to the other, leaving a small gap near the top for the ‘face.’ Place seam side down on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with remaining sausages and dough strips.
  6. Apply the egg wash: In a small bowl, whisk together 1 large egg and 1 tablespoon water. Lightly brush each mummy with the egg wash.
  7. Bake the mummies: Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and puffed.
  8. Add the eyes: Remove from oven. While still warm, gently press two candy eyeballs onto each mummy in the gap left.
  9. Let them rest: Allow the mummies to cool on the baking sheet for 2-3 minutes before transferring to a serving platter with the honey mustard dip.

Notes

Keep the dough cold for easier handling. Do not wrap the dough too tightly; leave room for puffing. The honey mustard dip can be made up to 3 days in advance. For gluten-free, use gluten-free crescent roll dough. For dairy-free, use vegan mayonnaise.
